Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does it feel, to have reflexology?

A:  Reflexology is more precise than a foot massage.  You may be surprised at the range of sensations you have when the reflex points on your feet are stimulated.  It’s normal and healthy to feel some tenderness.  I will adapt the treatment to what works for you.

Q: Can you tell what's wrong with me?

A:  No.  Reflexologists do not diagnose medical conditions.  If you have symptoms that concern you, and you have not yet seen your doctor about these, please have them checked out medically.

Q: Does it matter if I go to sleep?

A:  Having reflexology is so relaxing that it’s very common for people to become sleepy, and go to sleep during the treatment.  I will wake you at the end of the session. If its helpful for you to stay awake to provide feedback, I’ll let you know.

Q: How many sessions will I need?

A:  It’s best to have 4-6 weekly sessions to begin, when you want to improve symptoms.  This is because frequent treatment can build up a cumulative effect. I will discuss your treatment plan with you, to decide on what’s best for what you want to achieve.

Q: What should I wear?

A:  Come in loose, relaxed clothing.  It’s helpful to wear trousers that roll up comfortably as far as your knee for foot reflexology, or your elbow, for hand reflexology.

Q: Does it tickle?

A:  No, its a firm, rhythmical pressure, and it’s nothing like being tickled!

Q: Can you cure my medical condition?

A:  No.  It is you and your body that can heal.  Reflexology is a complementary therapy.  It works alongside conventional medical treatment, and the choices you make in your life.  Both of these affect your health and wellbeing. Reflexology and your reflexologist can be powerful friends to have on board, when you decide to make your body and mind as well as they can be.

Q: Do you mind if I talk whilst I'm having reflexology?

A:  I love to listen and chat, if that’s what you’d like.  I’ll let you know if I need you to shut your eyes and listen to your body.  This is sometimes helpful during your treatment.

Q: Are there any side effects?

You may feel some effects of reflexology immediately. For example, often people feel much lighter in themselves, and may sleep better that night.  Some people feel worse for a day before feeling much better. This is called having a ‘healing response’.

I didn’t know what to expect at all. I came out feeling as if I was walking on air.
